Um poema de William Blake

Um poema de Willian Blake

Tyger

Tyger! Tyger! Burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

In what distant deeps or skies
Burnt the fire of thine eyes?
On what wings dare he aspire?
What the hand dare seize the fire?

And whast should , & what art,
Could twist the sinews of thy heart?
And when thy heart to beat,
What dread hand & what dread feet?

What the hammer? What the chain?
In what furnace was thy brain?
What the anvil? What dread grasp
Dare its deadly terros clasp?

When the saars threw down their spears,
And water’d heaven with their tears,
Did he simile his work to see?
Did he who made the Lamb make thee?

Tyger? Tyger? Burning bright
In the forests of the night
What immortal hand or eye
Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?

Nota: William Blake: poeta e pintor inglês (1757-1827)

Tigre

Tigre! Tigre! luz queimando
Que mão ou olho imortais
Tua sinistra simetria compor poderiam?
Em que profundezas ou céus distantes
De teus olhos do fogo queimaste?
A que asas ousa ele aspirar?
O que a mão o fogo agarrar ousa?

E que ombro, & arte,
De teu coração torcer os tendões poderiam?
E quando a palpitar principiou teu coração
Que mão medonha & que pés terríveis?

E o martelo? E a corrente?
Em que fornalha andava teu cérebro?
E a bigorna?

Tigre! Tigre! luz queimando
Nas florestas noturnas
Que mão ou olhos imortais
Tua sinistra simetria compor poderiam?
